How to Trace a Cell Phone Location

New advances in technology have made it possible for anybody to trace a cell phone location.

These advances in technology designed to trace a cell phone location came about as a result of a number of recent events, including the events of September 11, 2001. Technological breakthroughs which have occurred since then include the inclusion of GPS technology in most mobile phones, and an improved ability to detect a phone's location based on signals from local transmission towers.

There are number services on the Internet which allow you to trace the location of a cell phone. They may differ in therms of interface and appearance, butthey are using the same data from the telecom companies.

How to Trace a Cell Phone Location

In the past the only way to gain access to the technology to trace a cell phone location was to buy equipment, and the use of this equipment was largely regulated to official organisations such as the police.

The way these services work is by gathering information from the telecom company that provides the cell phone service. this information includes the location of the cell phone as calculated by a combination of factors including the GPS as previously mentioned, and the distance to each of the nearest cellphone transmission masts. This is the same information which the police get.

There are wide range of reasons why you might want to trace a cell phone location, such as trying to find out where a friend or relative rates while you're out and about, keeping track of the location of a child, meeting up with friends, and trying to find shops and restaurants near you. Companies make use of these services in order to track their employees location, and also to provide security for employees when they are working in a remote location on their own. In the end, there are probably as many reasons as there are users.

The way GPS technology works in modern cell phones varies between the different cellphone networks, and with some operators it does not continuously transmit location. This means that when you want to trace a cell phone location, the information that you will be gathering is most likely collected from transmission tower locations.

The location of the phone will be tracked using triangulation - by taking 2 or more readings, it is possible to calculate where the signal is coming from by working out the triangle that fits the signal strengths. The 3rd point is the location of the phone.

However, when the person who has the phone has made an emergency call, this GPS transmission will always be sent. This is designed to ensure that the police can always track a cell phone location, in order to get help to people who need it.

The result of this design that the accuracy of the location which is provided by the service will be greater in areas which are more populated, and have more radio transmission masts, and will be lower in areas where there are very few radio masts, such is the wastelands, deserts, or un-populated areas of countryside. So, it is easier to track a cell phone location with a high level of accuracy in built up areas.

Nonetheless, most times you trace a cell phone location the information from the cell phone masts should be fine. After all, you do not need to know the person's location with a very great deal of accuracy for most purposes.

Mobile Communications

Mobile communications is a term used to broadly refer to portable communications technology. This definition would encompass all sorts equipment including but not limited to laptop and palmtop computers and net books, personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, smart phones, global positioning system (GPS) devices etc. A mobile phone is a portable electronic instrument that is used for long distance communication. Mobile phones are able to support a myriad of services including but not limited to short messaging service (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS), general packet radio services (GPRS), email, blue tooth, wireless application protocol (WAP), internet browsing, built-in and downloadable games, infrared and voice mail box etc. As evident from the name, it is possible to network a mobile device to a network at home or work while traveling to avoid disruptions in transmission of information and work.

Technologies used by Mobile Devices

Mobile devices employ a number of communication technologies to keep you connected at all times. These include but are not limited to;

Mobile Communications

• Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) Networks - refer to networks in which nodes are connected without wires and information is transmitted over electromagnetic waves.

• Bluetooth - is a system for networking that connects and transmits information over mobile devices.

• Second generation (2G), third generation (3G), fourth generation (4G), global system for mobile communications (GSM) and general packet radio service (GPRS) data services.

• Dial-up - is a system of data networking services that employs telephones and modems.

• Virtual private networks (VPN) - provide secure access to a personal or private network for transmission of information.

Benefits of Mobile Comm.
Mobile communications offer a myriad of benefits for both individual customers and companies some of which are discussed below;

• Sophisticated solutions that link you with your home or office network offer increased flexibility especially for staff working in the field.

• Mobile communications has positively impacted customer satisfaction by making their lives easier.

• By decreasing disruptions in work especially while traveling, mobile communications improves efficiency and motivation of employees and has a positive impact on the bottom line of the business/organization.

• Mobile comm. also help increase your customer base by giving them options to complete business transactions online. This increases your clientele by including customers who were purchasing the product/services online.

Disadvantages of Mobile Communications
Along with the benefits discussed above, there are a number of disadvantages of mobile communications some of which are discussed below;

• Mobile comm. require substantial investment in terms of equipment and will require sophisticated (and expensive) equipment making it impractical for smaller setups to opt for it.

• Un-secure wireless networks can expose sensitive data and information to unauthorized users. Thus, it is very important to get your mobile communications system set up by IT professionals.
• Staff would need to be trained in the use of mobile communications. In case of companies having a large staff, this would require substantial investment.

PR Crisis Management - Tell It All, Tell It Fast And Tell The Truth

I turned on the television news recently to learn that one of our top football teams may have lost an important match because of illness, the story being brought to us by a reporter stationed outside the hotel where the players enjoyed lunch prior to the game.

In the car, this was the lead story on the radio news with the story read by a reporter, again said to be outside the hotel. He confirmed that the Police had collected samples from the restaurant to pass onto the health authorities.

Guess what? The story was also the lead in the tabloid newspapers sat on my desk when I reached the office. Photographs of the hotel in question usually supported the story.

PR Crisis Management - Tell It All, Tell It Fast And Tell The Truth

As a public relations professional, I reflected on what the hotel's PR people are going through this morning. This is a prestigious hotel group with a well-crafted brand image of quality at the premium end of the market. Here they are, in the spotlight for all the wrong sort of reasons!

They will surely have a documented Crisis Management Plan or, in softer terms, a PR Communications Plan. But it is not only global companies who need to devise a plan in advance. Being in business, or even running a not-for-profit organisation, exposes everyone to the risk of a PR crisis.

No organisation is very far from crises and their resulting media attention. Their reputation can be washed away or seriously damaged in an instant. A crisis is any situation that threatens the integrity or reputation of your company, usually brought on by adverse or negative media attention.

These situations can be any kind of legal dispute, theft, accident, fire, flood or manmade disaster that could be attributed to your company. It can also be a situation where in the eyes of the media or general public your company did not react to one of the above situations in the appropriate manner. This definition is not all encompassing but rather is designed to give you an idea for the types of situations where you may need to follow this plan.

Crisis management is a complex subject, but here are five tips to get you started. And, start, you must.

1. Don't wait. Many organisations only get their crisis plans underway once a disaster has struck. Instead, brainstorm possible scenarios or types of disasters that could happen, and start planning for them. In fact, I have found this to be a positive process as bringing together key executives to share ideas and examine scenarios often brings out a range of issues that they can take forward.

2. Realise that crises take a wide range of shapes. As I say, this can be anything from the hotel's crisis to a legal dispute getting out of hand to customer dissatisfaction aired on the Internet. I even recall a weekend phone call from a Scout leader whose campsite had been washed away in storms with some children being injured; the media were on the telephone badgering her for the story! They will all require slightly different responses. Brainstorm and prepare for as many as you can imagine.

3. Develop a PR communications plan. A barrage of media attention may swamp you within minutes of the news breaking. Also, think about how you will get information out to staff, supporters & investors, and customers - yes, remember to get your side of the story out to customers as soon as you can. Internal communication is as important as communication to the general public.

A physical plan has to do with getting everyone out of the building in case of an earthquake. A communications plan involves identifying a spokesperson, developing press releases, setting up a media hotline, and finding a place where you can have a press conference.

4. Be prepared to speak to the media and to your constituents. Even if you can't say much because your lawyer is concerned about liability, plan to say what you can as soon as you can. Be concerned, show concern, speak concern, and always tell the truth. That doesn't mean you have to tell everything all at once, but never, never lie.

5. Provide media training for senior management. Do this before a disaster strikes. Make it a regular part of board and senior employee training. Media training needn't cost a lot if you have someone on your board working in public relations or someone who is a member of the media. The key is to do it regularly so that new people are always trained and others don't grow stale.

Don't delay your crisis planning. Don't ruin your hard-won reputation by handling difficult situations badly! The directors and PR team of that hotel this morning went to bed last evening little knowing the blast of unwelcome publicity that was facing them this morning. Hopefully, their PR Communications Plan will be a trusted aide today!

Best Bundles For Phone, TV, and Internet Service

Your search for the best bundled packages for phone, TV, and Internet has landed you here, but there is a problem. Your search term is too broad. You'll never find the best bundles this way, because services available where you live will be different than those available elsewhere. That being said, how can you find the best bundles if nobody has the same service providers?

Find bundles where you live

I have two questions for you. Who is the major phone company where you live? Who is the major cable company where you live? If you know the answer to these two question, and I'm sure you do, you're one step closer to locating your best bundled service. You'll likely, be able to get bundled services through one of these providers, and if they offer bundled packages you'll most likely be able to get phone, TV, and high speed Internet on the same bill, and for a discount.

Best Bundles For Phone, TV, and Internet Service

Phone company bundles

If you can get service from a telephone company, you'll have more choices than with a cable provider, but phone companies are also notorious for making things confusing. This is not intentional, it's just what has happened in an effort to provide you with more choice. With these bundles there may be a standard bundle, with home phone, cell phone, satellite TV, and high speed DSL, and also a fiber optic bundle option.

Fiber optic bundles

These are offered by the phone company, but it's fairly new and not available everywhere even if that provider offers standard services where you live. Fiber optic packages are very different from the standard bundles. Fiber optic TV quality rivals that of the best cable TV service, and fiber optic internet service allows for the fastest upload, and download speeds available for home use. Home phone service provided by a fiber optic package is generally digital, and allows for unlimited local and long distance calling at cheaper prices than that of landline.

Cable company bundles

Just like with bundles from a phone company, you can get telephone service, high speed Internet service, and digital TV service all on one bill from a cable provider at a discount for bundling those services. One thing cable providers do not, and will not offer for some time that phone companies do is cell phone service. There are some cable operators looking into this, but as it stands today it's just not going to happen, so if you must have cellular service as part of your bundle you'll need to go with a phone company.

How to get the best bundle

I hate to break it to you, but you're just going to have to do your homework on this one. There is no cookie cutter solution to finding the best bundled packages, and there never will be unless one day there is only one provider servicing the entire country, Furthermore, what's important to you, isn't necessarily important to the next person, so when comparing packages take your time.

Cell Phone Number Search - How to Reverse Lookup a Cell Phone Number

When do you need a reverse phone service?

If you want to find the name and location of the owner of a specific phone number (cellular or landline) and this number is not listed in whitepages or phone books, you will need a specialized reverse phone lookup service. These services operate by purchasing access to subscriber databases of various mobile operators and phone companies. By combining multiple sources of information, they provide users with a capability to search through a huge database containing almost all phone numbers in the USA. This database includes land line numbers, unlisted numbers and cell phone numbers.

Reverse phone lookup services are bound by agreements with phone companies, which prohibit them from providing this information for free (primarily for the reasons of privacy). This is the reason why you need a valid credit card or paypal account to register and use these services. This ensures that they cannot be utilized for illegal purposes (e.g. stalking.) Besides, phone companies charge for access to their databases in the first place, so reverse lookup services try to recoup some of their costs by requiring a subscription fee.

Cell Phone Number Search - How to Reverse Lookup a Cell Phone Number

Are there any free alternatives to paid reverse phone lookup services?

If you don't feel like using paid services, there are a few alternatives that may help. You may look up the number in publicly available whitepages or phone books, or use an internet search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. However, if the number in question is cell phone or unlisted, you search will most likely provide no results, because such information is not publicly available. It won't hurt to try, though.

What kind of information you can expect to find using a cell phone lookup service?

You can expect to find the owner's name and address. Some services also provide additional information such as the list of household members.

How to use a reverse phone lookup service?

Simply enter the phone number which you are researching into the online form. Most services will immediately provide the following information for free:

Whether the phone number in question is cellular or land line. The precise location (city and state) where the number is registered. Whether any additional information about this number is available. To find the name of the phone's owner, you will need to purchase access to the service (a nominal yearly fee is usually required). As mentioned above, the registration requirement is a way of ensuring the service will not be used illegally.

Are reverse phone lookup services legal?

Yes, cell phone lookup services are completely legal, provided you use the obtained information for lawful purposes. In particular, you are not allowed to take advantage of this information for making telemarketing calls.
